The 2017 Children’s Congress Application is Available NOW!

JDRF’s highest profile advocacy event is the Breakthrough T1D Children’s Congress, held every two years in the nation’s capital. This year’s event will be held from July 24-26, 2017. It will include more than 160 children aged 4-17 from across the nation who will travel to Washington, D.C. to meet with Members of Congress and participate in activities to educate the public about T1D.

As participants in Breakthrough T1D’s 2017 Children’s Congress, Delegates will have a unique and empowering opportunity to help our lawmakers understand what life with T1D is like. They will tell them why research will one day help create a world without T1D and the role the Federal Government plays in achieving that vision. The efforts of the Federal Government in the funding of research, the regulatory efforts to approve novel therapies, and the reimbursement work to make them affordable are making and will make a tremendous difference for people affected by T1D. In addition to being important, the work that Delegates do is extremely gratifying.

Delegates form lifelong friendships, meet T1D role models, develop leadership skills, and leave Children’s Congress empowered to use their voices for the change that will improve their lives and the lives of all people affected by T1D.

Breakthrough T1D Children’s Congress has been essential to securing continued government funding of T1D research and to raise awareness of the daily burden of Americans living with this serious autoimmune disease.
