About
To all of our friends and family,
It is that time of the year when I put my once a year ask out to my family and friends to support Breakthrough T1D, formerly JDRF.
As many of you know, our son Jack was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in December of 2015. It is a day that our family will never forget as it will have a lasting impact on our family and our son Jack throughout his life. That is why, as a family, we have committed to doing what we can to help support Breakthrough T1D.
Breakthrough T1D is the leading global type 1 diabetes research and advocacy organization. They help make everyday life better while driving toward cures for Jack and all those affected by this disease. They are opening doors that were once closed by T1D diagnosis. By driving innovation forward, Breakthrough T1D will make type 1 diabetes a condition of the past.
Since Jack’s diagnosis, we have already seen the benefits that Breakthrough T1D has had for Jack and our entire family. So many of the advancements in treatment and the promising research to cure and prevent T1D have been the direct result of their passion and laser-focused commitment. Through technology in Pumps and Glucose Monitoring Devices individuals like Jack have been able to better manage their A1C levels to help mitigate some of the negative impacts of diabetes.
Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that strikes both children and adults suddenly. It has NOTHING to do with diet or lifestyle, which is something that most people do not understand. There is nothing you can do to prevent it, but it is a condition that can be managed in a manner that does not prevent Jack from doing anything he sets his mind too.
While our support of Breakthrough T1D typically is through the 100-mile bike Ride, this year we are choosing to support through the One Night One Mission Gala on Saturday, March 1, 2025. Please consider any level of support that makes sense for you; this can take the form of purchasing individual tickets, hosting a table, donating an auction item, or making a Fund A Cure contribution. Your tax-deductible gift will make a difference in the lives of every person who faces the daily challenges of T1D.
Our hope is that if you have donated in the past that you continue supporting this worthwhile cause and help people like Jack manage their diabetes and one day help find a cure for T1D. If you have not contributed perhaps this is the year you are able to make an impact for Breakthrough T1D. As I have told many people, the efforts of Breakthrough T1D are making a difference and Jack can attest to that!
We certainly recognize that there are many worthwhile organizations that are in need and we encourage you to focus on the cause(s) that mean the most to you. We hope that you consider clicking the link below to contribute to Breakthrough T1D. Over the last 5 years your contributions and our match together we have generated over $830,000. Let’s see if together we can take that number over the million-dollar mark!
Let’s find a cure for T1,
