  • Help Us Launch the 2027 Breakthrough T1D Portland Hope Gala Season!  Next year’s Breakthrough T1D Portland Hope Gala is Saturday, May 1, 2027, at the Sentinel Hotel, and the planning for this exciting annual event is in full swing. The 2026 event raised $620,000 toward finding cures for type 1 diabetes (T1D). We aim to exceed that amount in 2027, but we need your help.   First, let’s launch the 2027 Portland Hope Gala season!

    • When: Sunday, October 25, 2026, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
    • Where: Tualatin Public Library, 18878 SW Martinazzi Ave, Tualatin, OR 97062
    • What to expect: A first look at this year's Gala theme, a discussion of our financial goals, and a hands-on group project to kick off the season. Drinks and snacks will be served.
RSVP to Lauren Howe at [email protected].  Can't make the launch but still want to help? No problem — just contact Lauren to discuss how you’d like to be involved. Whether you procure auction items, help set up ballrooms, or keep things running smoothly on event night, your support is what makes the Portland Hope Gala a success every year.  Know someone else who might be interested? Feel free to share the details.  We hope to see you at Portland Hope Gala Season Launch on October 25 and at the main event on May 1, 2027!

  • Newly diagnosed? Come meet people who get it. A type 1 diabetes diagnosis can bring a lot of new routines, questions, and emotions. You don't have to work through it without a community around you. Join Breakthrough T1D San Diego for a casual get-together for anyone new to type 1 diabetes (T1D). That includes families of kids and teens, adults who were recently diagnosed, and the people who support them. Meet others who know what these early days are like. Kids who come can connect, play, and meet others living with T1D. No presentations. No agenda. No pressure. Just people connecting with people, because sometimes the most helpful thing is finding others who get it. Appetizers will be served. Drinks are available to buy at the bar. This get-together is for anyone getting used to a recent T1D diagnosis. Breakthrough T1D is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all event participants. Firearms, weapons of any kind, illegal drugs, and alcohol (unless expressly provided by the event) are strictly prohibited at all Breakthrough T1D events.
