Reed and Shelli Gialketsis Volunteers of the Year – Roy and Noell Frailey

The Reed and Shelli Gialketsis Volunteer of the Year award began in 2011 in recognition of the incredible work of former board member, Shelli Gialketsis. Serving as the Outreach Chair, Shelli transformed the outreach program and spent countless hours as a volunteer both in the office and in the community helping to expand and improve the outreach programs for the Nevada Chapter.

This year, the Reed and Shelli Gialketsis award was presented to an invaluable husband and wife team – Roy and Noell Frailey. The Fraileys generally avoid the spotlight at most of our events, but their work behind the scenes is what makes our success possible. Roy is always the first to volunteer to set up for our events, which often involves loading and unloading supplies in triple digit weather. The past several years they have also led the team cleaning and packing up after the gala, which finishes in the wee hours of the morning.

Roy and Noell ensure that their daughter Savannah can participate in all the Youth Ambassador activities, and this year helped the Nevada Chapter fill a gap and stepped in to chair the program and plan events and activities for the young leaders with type 1 diabetes in our community. They are also serving as outreach volunteers, reaching out to and encouraging families after a new diagnosis of type 1 diabetes.

Thank you to Roy and Noell for all you to do help the Breakthrough T1D Nevada Chapter and the families living with T1D!
