Volunteer of the Month – Megan Moon
in Volunteers
The Nevada Chapter Volunteer of the Month program is sponsored by our community partners at Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers. Each month we highlight one of our fabulous chapter volunteers and that volunteer will receive gift cards for free meals from Raising Cane’s.
We are pleased to announce our Raising Canes Volunteer of the Month for Feburary is Megan Moon.
Megan began volunteering in the Nevada Chapter office shortly after her son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. For several months, she was able to come to the office each week to help us plan and prepare for events. She contacted numerous walk teams to make sure they were ready for walk day.
She also organized a fundraiser at her son’s school earlier this year. Each of the classrooms collected change and the class with the heaviest weight in coins was the winning classroom. It was a great twist on the typical school fundraiser!
Megan serves as one of Outreach Volunteers in the T1D Connections Program, to help connect with newly diagnosed families and reassure them as they manage the new challenges of dealing with type 1 diabetes.
We are also very thankful that Megan’s family was able to recruit Station 8 from Las Vegas Fire and Rescue to entertain our families on the the walk route in honor of her family team – Wyatt Moon Warriors.
Thank you Megan for going above and beyond for the Breakthrough T1D Nevada Chapter!
