February 16th: TypeOneNation Summit Registration Opens
As a parent, you can vividly remember the day your child was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D), can’t you? You know that day changed your child’s life forever, but you also know it didn’t just affect your child, it impacted the entire family.
Throughout the year, the Breakthrough T1D Georgia Chapter talks to so many families who are looking for support. Some families may be experiencing challenges in their child’s school while others may need help with finding financial resources. Some families may just want their child to meet other kids living with T1D. This is where the TypeOneNation Summit comes in.
Each year, we host a fun, educational summit that includes workshops and training for caregivers. We also include interactive childcare by volunteers experienced at managing T1D so parents can attend the event worry-free.
At the 2016 TypeOneNation Summit, we are excited to have our keynote speaker, Kady Helme, share her experience with the Artificial Pancreas trial. We are also excited to expand our workshop offerings which will include topics like Parent Roundtable: What I Wish I’d Known and Sports & Exercise with panelists like Jason Smith whose son Gavin was diagnosed with T1D at 20 months and now excels at competitive soccer (see photo).
As an added treat, we are also offering tickets to the 5:30 pm Medieval Times show the the first 30 families/households who register for the TypeOneNation Summit. The show will also be on the same day as the Summit. However, multiple registrations will forfeit ticket opportunity. An option to buy extra tickets will be offered upon confirmation.
Additionally, all attendees can enter to win an American Girl doll with the new Diabetes Care Kit for Dolls.
