Every year an individual, couple or family is presented with the Georgia Chapter’s prestigious Living and Giving Award. To help commemorate the 20th anniversary last year and forever solidify their longtime commitment to Breakthrough T1D, the award was re-named after Barbara and Duke Roos, the first recipients of this award 10 years ago. Others among the impressive list of past honorees include: Joan and Neal Allen, Dr. Bruce Bode, Carter and John Hipp, Paula and Jim McDonald, Penn and Net Payne, Andrea and John Pruitt, Debby and Jim Robbins, Laura and Rutherford Seydel and Barbara and Byron Williams.

This May, the Georgia Chapter is pleased to recognize Kris Bagwell for 30 years of exceptional service and dedication to Breakthrough T1D. Diagnosed with T1D in May 1986, Kris has supported, volunteered and contributed on all levels for Breakthrough T1D and its mission. Locally, he has led walk teams, participated in 8 rides, produced Gala program videos, served on the GA Chapter Board for several terms and was appointed Board President from 2007-2009. On a national level, Kris was a member of the marketing committee for the Breakthrough T1D International Board for several years and he was selected to participate in the ground-breaking Artificial Pancreas Project Trial in 2009 at the University of Virginia.

Kris is currently Executive Vice President and General Manager of EUE Screen Gems Studios right here in his hometown of Atlanta.  He oversees the company’s film, television and digital studio operations putting his decades of industry knowledge to great use.

Please join the Georgia Chapter, along with co-chairs Barbara and Byron Williams and Tracy and Jim Winchester,  on May 7th as we honor and congratulate Kris Bagwell for the significant impact he has made on behalf of Breakthrough T1D and its mission to eradicate T1D.
