Breakthrough T1D Supports our Newly Diagnosed Families
This past fiscal year the Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter has provided support and education to over 165 families through the bag of hope and adult T1D care kit programs! This is a 135% increase from FY15. In addition, we were able to provide 54 families with an outreach volunteer to help during their difficult time of diagnoses! The Breakthrough T1D staff wants to thank all of our Outreach Volunteers, especially Eileen Bookbinder and Amy Kirk, the Co-Chairs of the mentor program for a tremulous job this past year and for being wonderful volunteer leaders.
To add to our success as a Chapter we are looking to recruit additional outreach volunteers to join our mentor program. At this time, we are particularly in need of mentors who are Spanish/English bilingual. If you are looking support these newly diagnosed families, and become a trusted and trained volunteer, join the Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter as an Outreach mentor. There will be a mentor training Wednesday July 20 at 6:30. To RSVP, please email Dan Lennon at dlennon@BreakthroughT1D.org by Monday July 19.
