Caitlin Sweeney, age 9, shared her personal mission with the attendees of the Maine Walk Awards Ceremony, held March 1.
“My goal for the year is to help find a cure for type 1 diabetes. I’m going to try to accomplish this goal by asking more people to come to the diabetes fundraisers! I will not give up. I promise to stand strong! I want to help because I see my brother suffer every day and I want it to stop! I can’t stand it anymore. I want him to be happy! I know that he’s normal, but inside of my heart, he’s special. I will pass out flyers. If that doesn’t work, I will make the money myself. I will save up money. I will work hard. Like I said earlier, I will stand strong. I will help him get through it. I might set up a lemonade stand. He is my hero. I hope whoever is reading this will help me too. As you can see I want to help my brother.”
