July Cure Champions
The Breakthrough T1D Greater New England chapter is delighted to welcome its newly-elected community board members beginning July 1. The Board of Directors is committed to serving as champions for Breakthrough T1D’s vision and mission—accelerating the development of cures and to create new treatments and technologies to keep people with type 1 diabetes (T1D) as healthy as possible until we do. They play a pivotal role in cultivating meaningful connections for Breakthrough T1D that proactively drive fundraising to fulfill Breakthrough T1D’s mission. Please welcome:Â

Senior Director, Intellia Therapeutics
“I was diagnosed with T1D in February 1994 at the age of 11. Growing up in the small town of Princeton, MA there weren’t a lot of local resources outside of one family friend. Breakthrough T1D was that first ray of hope in allowing us to feel like we could make a difference in accelerating a cure by fundraising through what is now the Breakthrough T1D One Walk. I have personally benefited from the technology and medical advancements that Breakthrough T1D has helped to fund over the last 29 years. As a scientist working to help cure others of disease, it is my honor to help Breakthrough T1D move forward to help the community that I most identify with.”

“I am honored to be serving as the President of the Greater New England Community Board. Since our family first engaged with Breakthrough T1D, its staff and volunteers have welcomed us, provided hope and inspiration, and empowered us to make an impact. I look forward to partnering with our Breakthrough T1D community to continue to strengthen our existing programs. Offering more families, individuals, and companies in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont opportunities to engage with Breakthrough T1D continues to be a priority. The energy, passion, and determination of the entire T1D community is essential to our shared mission to accelerate life changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent, and treat T1D and its complications.”
