“We can do hard things.” Running has its challenges, but embracing them builds strength that carries into all areas of life. And the we is key—reminding us that we both lean on and lift up our family, friends, and community along the way.
What is your connection to Breakthrough T1D and T1D: Breakthrough T1D is committed to improving life for everyone impacted by T1D—funding research, driving advocacy, and working toward a cure. As a mom to a child with T1D, this mission means everything to me.
What got you into running: I started running in college and quickly fell in love with being outdoors and soaking up the sunshine! Running clears my mind, recharges my energy, and often sparks my best creative ideas.
What you are most looking forward to at the Providence Marathon/Half Marathon: This will be my first marathon and it feels extra special to experience it in the creative capital!

It’s never too late to start living your dream!
Hometown: Berkley, MA.
What is your connection to Breakthrough T1D and T1D: My husband has T1D. He was diagnosed at the age of four. He sadly lost his entire vision in 2019 from diabetic retinopathy.
What got you into running: I suffer from an autoimmune disease that affects my joints. I was told I would never be able to run. Thanks to the advancement of medicine, I started a new med and went into remission. I felt good for the first time in my life and decided to start running. I continuously felt good and kept running. That was in 2018! I’ve since ran two marathons and every distance in between.
What you are most looking forward to at the Providence Marathon/Half Marathon: Race season is back!

“Stay afraid, but do it anyway. What’s important is the action. You don’t have to wait to be confident. Just do it and eventually the confidence will follow.” – Carrie Fisher
What is your connection to T1D: T1D is a cause that hits close to home for me. My dad was diagnosed at a very young age, and I’ve witnessed firsthand the challenges it has posed for him and our family over the years. It’s a constant reminder of the strength it takes to live with this condition.
What got you into running: For me, running has always been a way to unwind. I know it might sound a bit strange, as running is usually an intense activity, but it brings me a sense of peace and allows me to escape into my own world. It’s my time to clear my mind and recharge.
What are you most looking forward to at the Providence Marathon/Half Marathon: This will be my first half marathon, and I’m really looking forward to the positive, encouraging energy that comes with such an event. Most of all, I can’t wait to cross that finish line and experience the sense of accomplishment!
