Day 3 – Meet Annalise

in

Since being diagnosed with T1D in 2010, I have had to face many new challenges. The most recent one was having my best friend abandon me.  You see, he had difficulty understanding and dealing with the fact that my high blood sugar spikes would cause my personality to change, sometimes making me irritable.  His not being able to handle this aspect of my illness made me incredibly sad, and feel like an outcast.  Unfortunately, this wasn’t the first time that I’ve had this issue.  Two years ago, the same thing happened when all of my close friends left, saying that they couldn’t “deal with” my having T1D. But luckily, I have an amazing support system thanks to Breakthrough T1D!  The staff always makes me feel better about myself, and helps me to realize that I’m not alone.  I’ve also met many wonderful people my age, who are living with this disease.  I appreciate having Breakthrough T1D in my life!
