Whether starting the school year or returning after a new diagnosis, going back to school can be an overwhelming time for students living with type 1 diabetes (T1D) as well as their parents and caregivers. It is important for teachers and educators to be aware of T1D so they can ensure safety and well-being of the student.
Back to school preparedness requires paperwork, special planning and many conversations with teachers, school nurses, and staff about how it’s managed in the classroom. The good news is that with Breakthrough T1D’s help, you don’t have to feel overwhelmed. Here are some things you can do:
