Charlotte Drury Biography
in General
Our headline speaker for our Brooklyn TypeOneNation Summit is Charlotte Drury. She is an incredible athlete and T1D warrior!
Charlotte Drury is a 9x U.S. National Team Member, World Cup Champion, 2020 Olympic Team Member, and the first Type-One Diabetic to ever be on an Olympic Gymnastics Team. When Charlotte was six years old, she wrote in her journal that she wanted to go to the Olympics…little did she know the journey the next twenty years of her athletic career would take her on. From becoming the first American to ever win a World Cup, to an insurmountable injury the day before the 2016 Olympic Trials and a life-changing diagnosis just months before the 2020 Olympics, her career, and life, has done everything except go according to plan.
With humor and honesty, Charlotte speaks about her journey to the Olympic Games as a Type-One Diabetic, why she calls herself “reluctantly resilient”, and the true value of understanding and caring for your own mental health.
