CHICAGO – Breakthrough T1D Illinois welcomed 60 corporate leaders on April 27 at the Deloitte & Touche LLP corporate offices for an event featuring a presentation from Chicago Cubs Executive Chairman Tom Ricketts. Breakthrough T1D is the leading global organization focused on type 1 diabetes (T1D) research.

“It was an honor to have Tom join us and share the amazing story of the Cubs rebuild from the insider’s perspective. It also gave us a chance to talk about the importance of corporate partners to Breakthrough T1D as work toward our mission to find a cure for T1D,” said Breakthrough T1D Illinois Executive Director Mimi K. Crabtree.

Tom Ricketts shared the importance of corporate philanthropy, as well as the history and future plans for the Cubs franchise, staying into the cocktail hour to talk, take photos, and sign a few autographs.

“Our goal is to connect corporate leaders and corporations with Breakthrough T1D in a meaningful and strategic way,” said Breakthrough T1D Board Member Michael Alter. “There is a real opportunity for everyone in supporting Breakthrough T1D in its mission to find a cure for T1D and lessen the burden along the way.”

The evening began with a cocktail reception followed by a program that also included Kathleen Candella (from Deloitte & Touche LLP), Michael Alter, and Mimi K. Crabtree.
