Breakthrough T1D Ride to Cure Diabetes Q&A

You’ve heard about the Breakthrough T1D Ride to Cure Diabetes and the seven locations Breakthrough T1D has across the nation, but have you ever wondered how those weekends work? How riders prepare or what the event looks like?

We have the answers to those questions and more!

Riders from the Illinois Chapter had an informational conference call with National Breakthrough T1D Ride coach Mike Clark and Illinois coaches Joshua Zilm and Chris Noel last week. The coaches talked new riders through training, nutritional tips, best practices for the weekend, and what they could expect when they arrived at the site.

You can listen to the entire call and have your questions answered HERE.

“I got into the Ride program to connect with other families and never looked back,” Chris said. “First time riders out there, you are going to have the time of your life.”

Mike got involved without having a T1D connection. “I had never, frankly, heard of Breakthrough T1D or imagined what it spelled when I was approached about being a coach,” he said. “My connection with type one back then was zero and it has grown, of course, now to be all of the people I have met through the program.”
