New Members of the 2018-19 Breakthrough T1D Illinois Board of Directors
Breakthrough T1D Illinois announced the appointment of six new Breakthrough T1D Illinois Chapter board members at the organization’s 2018 Annual Meeting on Tuesday, June 19th.
The new slate of board members consists of Frank Burke (Aon Risk Solutions), Dick Cagney (Keefe, Bruyette & Woods), Myra Costello, John Garcia (ABC7 Chicago), Beth Heagy (Zurich North America), and Connie Magnuson to its Board of Directors.
Frank Burke
Frank Burke is a Managing Director of Aon Risk Solutions, leading their complex multinational clients focusing on issues related to risk, retirement, health and talent. Previously Frank was the Vice President of Risk Management at Budget Rent-a-Car as well as the Director of Risk Management for The Marmon Group.
Frank resides in Lake Forest with his wife Anne and their four children.
Richard Cagney
Richard Cagney is a Managing Director of Keefe, Bruyette & Woods, a financial services firm with offices in The US and UK. He joined the firm in January 2015 to provide corporate access to KBW’s institutional client base. Previously he founded Cagney Research Group, LLC (F.K.A. Cagney Network Inc.) in November, 2007.
Richard resides in Evanston with his wife Meg. They have four children and six grandsons.
Myra Costello
Myra Costello is currently Vice President of Finance for CIT Bank. Her expertise lies in providing innovative, strategic, sustainable solutions to financial institutions while driving business growth. She honed these skills over 13 years’ experience in financial consulting, compliance and building social enterprises. Myra’s family has been tragically impacted by diabetes making the importance of raising awareness about T1D a personal goal.
Myra lives in Orland Park, IL where she promotes community impact through education and economic growth.
John Garcia
John Garcia is a general assignment reporter for ABC 7 News, Chicago’s top-rated news station. He joined ABC 7 Chicago in 1994 and served as co-anchor of ABC 7 Sunday Morning News from 1995-97. John has been honored with numerous awards, including several Chicago Emmy nominations and an Illinois Broadcasters’ Association Silver Dome Award.
John is a Chicago native and he resides in the western suburbs with his wife and four daughters.
Beth Heagy
Beth is the Vice President, Head of Underwriting & Workplace Solutions for Zurich North America in Schaumburg, IL. She is responsible for driving outcomes to meet operational metrics via end-to-end underwriting transformation, continuous improvement, and support in the United States and Canada. Additionally, she sets and drives initiatives outside of underwriting that affect the workplace experience.
Beth has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kentucky.
Connie Magnuson
Connie Magnuson is a retired Senior Vice President of the Northern Trust Company from 1974 to 2002. She received her BA from Northwestern University in 1974 and her MBA from Northwestern University in 1978. She is a current board member of the Northwestern University Settlement Board, former Secretary of the Women’s Board of the Field Museum, former President, and current board member, of the Woman’s Athletic Club.
She lives in Chicago with her husband and has two daughters.
