Fund A Cure with the Abney Family | Breakthrough T1D Louisiana Gala 2026

Our family is humbled and honored to serve as the Honorees for the 25th Anniversary Breakthrough T1D Imagine Gala. It is difficult to put into words how much this means to us. As you know, our lives were forever changed when Blake was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) at just 8 years old. Years later, we were devastated when Carson was diagnosed during his junior year in high school. T1D is a constant challenge, but through it all, we have been incredibly fortunate to have your unwavering love and support.

After Blake was diagnosed, we made it our mission to research and learn everything we could to help him manage this disease daily. That is when we became part of the Breakthrough T1D (Formerly JDRF) community. Each year, we fundraised with our walk team at the annual JDRF One Walk, volunteered at the gala, and became advocates attending meetings with Congress members to share our story and fight for support and funding of the Special Diabetes program.

After Carson was diagnosed, we knew we had to do even more to help. The Imagine Gala is a memorable evening that features silent and live auctions, a seated dinner, and a Fund A Cure program. Our goal as Honorees is to tell our story, create awareness, and help raise funds for T1D research to accelerate life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent, and treat T1D and its complications. To be recognized by this community as honorees is a profound privilege and we hope you will join us on this very special evening.
