One-Of-A-Kind Lions In London VIP Experience to Help Fund A Cure for Type 1 Diabetes

DETROIT – (April 21, 2014) – On Friday, May 2, 2014, Breakthrough T1D will auction a one-of-a-kind Lions In London VIP Experience as part of its 29th Annual Promise Ball Gala at the MGM Grand in Detroit to help fund research toward finding a cure for type 1 diabetes (T1D). Since 2005, the Promise Ball Gala has raised more than $5 million to help find a cure for T1D.
The live auction package allows the winner to attend the Detroit Lions-Atlanta Falcons game in London, England on October 26, 2014, the first Detroit Lions regular season game to be played outside of the United States, including:
- Two game tickets
- Two pre-game sideline passes
- Autographed memorabilia
All of the above donated by The Detroit Lions, plus:
- Round-trip airfare, donated by Delta Airlines
- Hotel accommodations, donated by Ford Motor Company

As many as three million Americans have type 1 diabetes, and each year, more than 15,000 children and 15,000 adults – approximately 80 people per day – are diagnosed with T1D in the U.S. The prevalence of T1D in Americans younger than 20 rose by 23 percent between 2001 and 2009.
