Ford Motor Company Employees Participate in the Breakthrough T1D Ride to Cure Diabetes
in Fundraising
This month, the Ford Motor Company team of 30 cyclists (22 representing the Breakthrough T1D Metro Detroit & Southeast Michigan Chapter) will participate in the Breakthrough T1D Ride to Cure Diabetes in Nashville, Tennessee. The Ford Motor Company team will join over 200 other riders from across the country for a fun-filled weekend that includes cycling seminars, planned excursions, and many celebrations, all leading up to the big event – ride day! The Nashville course consists of four different distances – 25, 57, 77, and 100 miles – through the scenic Tennessee countryside before entering the Natchez Trace Parkway. Over half of the Ford Motor Company riders are currently training to conquer the 100 mile distance on October 31.
Ford Motor Company Vice President and Controller, Stuart Rowley is the team’s Champion as well as the Champion for the 2015 Ford World Headquarters Breakthrough T1D Campaign. This is the second year Ford Motor Company is supporting the Breakthrough T1D Ride to Cure Diabetes program locally and we are truly grateful for their support and participation!
The Breakthrough T1D Ride to Cure Diabetes has raised more than $26 million for research to deliver life-changing therapies, and one day, a cure for type 1 diabetes. To participate, riders commit to raising a minimum dollar amount and, in exchange, Breakthrough T1D provides each cyclist with fundraising support and coaching in the months leading up to and throughout the Ride weekend.
