Breakthrough T1D T1D Resources & Support
in General
Find support you need when you need it most. Breakthrough T1D chapters offer a variety of services and events to inform, support and connect you with the T1D community.
Whether you’re interested in joining a vibrant online T1D community, in need of advice from someone who’s been there or looking for educational tools to help you or your loved one manage the disease—Breakthrough T1D is here to help. Receiving a T1D diagnosis can be a traumatic and an isolating experience, whether it’s you who is affected or someone you love.
Breakthrough T1D has a robust group of trained volunteer Mentors that can connect you with others in the T1D community who’ve been through similar experiences. Our Mentors can provide you with resources, such as our Bag of Hope, T1D Care Kit, or Toolkits – plus share advice and support to help get you through this difficult time. Our Mentors and Mentor Families are parents/caregivers, spouses and other adults who either have T1D themselves—or have a loved one affected by the disease. We even have young adults ready to share their experiences living with T1D – going to school, driving, dating, and living a successful and energetic life. All of our mentors understand how overwhelming it can be to adapt to the daily demands of managing T1D—and they are here to help get you navigate your “new normal”.
You do not need to feel alone in your journey. In addition to providing an empathetic ear, your mentor can also help introduce you to your local T1D community at Breakthrough T1D events where you may even build some long-lasting friendships! Either way, you’ll be welcomed into the Breakthrough T1D family with open arms, as we come together to lessen the daily burden of T1D until there is a cure.
Whether you are newly diagnosed or living with T1D for 50 years, Breakthrough T1D has the support you need.
