You’ve Always Had the Power to Make a Difference for Breakthrough T1D!

On Saturday, November 2, Breakthrough T1D will have its annual Night of Hope Gala, a key fundraising event. This year’s gala theme is the Wizard of Oz.

It will be a spectacular night…..a beautiful place, great company, great food, all for a cause that is dear to everyone reading this.

Will you help, by making a live or silent auction donation?

Each item at the auction is the result of one person’s effort—will you be that person? As Glinda told Dorothy, “you’ve always had the power.”

A favorite example of the magical work of one committed volunteer….a live auction item already promised is a trip to the Grand Cayman for four…..lodging, flights, flip flops and towels included. That item was secured by an 11 year old with type 1!

Munchkins at Breakthrough T1D and on the auction committee are hard at work, putting together all sorts of amazing items.  There will be lions, and tigers and bears!  Oh my!

Interested in training with an Olympic athlete?   Want to take a group of twenty on a tour of the Smithsonian museum of your choice?  (Doesn’t have to include a visit to see the ruby red slippers, but doesn’t that seem a natural destination?)  Want to visit the set of VEEP?

Come to the gala, and see what more you will find at the end of the yellow brick road.

We need your help, too!  We seek trips, exclusive tickets to sporting events, chef’s tables, at-home catering and parties, spa visits, jewelry, and so much more.    Hot air balloon ride, anyone???

Do you know anyone who might make a donation?   (While the donor is doing something wonderful, those donations can also be great avenue for repeat business.)

Last year, the silent auction family baskets were fantastic!  And they included both wonderful items and offers of special talents.   (Last year, a certain type 1 Dad’s offer of a delicious cheesecake to order was so hotly bid he ended up offering two cakes to two lucky bidders!) Please submit your family basket by October 21, 2013.
