Walk Kick-offs a Hit!

Throughout the month of February, Walk families from the Greater Chesapeake and Potomac Chapter have been working hard to fundraise for the three upcoming Breakthrough T1D One Walks hosted by the Chapter this spring. We also used this month as a time to celebrate all the effort being put forth by our families as they raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for life-changing T1D research. The attendance at all three Kickoffs surpassed any in the past as our Chapter prepares for a record-breaking spring.
The Kickoffs also provided families, especially those of newly diagnosed children, with a chance to meet with each other. Our community is steadfast in its mission to provide outreach to all of those affected by T1D. The Breakthrough T1D One Walk season serves as a reminder for all of us that we are in this together in our search for a cure.
Suzanne Lang, mother to two young boys with T1D and team captain of the Lang Gang, said of the Breakthrough T1D One Walk DC Kickoff, “I thought it was normalizing for the kids to be socializing with others who have T1D, especially some Breakthrough T1D staff. I know my boys were happy to talk with those who have type one and it really made them feel cool. That’s what the spirit of the Walk season is all about for us, to be able to show solidarity in our community.”
