Summer Camps and T1D

Summer camp season is upon us! Living with type 1 diabetes does not have to stand in the way of an amazing camp experience that can include hiking, canoeing, paddle boarding and forging life-long friendships. Colorado and Wyoming are home to a variety of T1D specific summer camps that are fully staffed and include expert T1D medical teams.  Options include sleep-away camps, day camps and for the first time in Colorado an adult summer camp.

See the list below for local and recommended camps.   You can also refer to DECA (The Diabetes Education and Camping Association) for a list of more camps nationally and internationally.

Camp Colorado is all about empowered adventure. Hosted by the America Diabetes Association, Camp Colorado provides one Association-trained diabetes counselor for every four campers. Camp Colorado is a non-intimidating place to expand your knowledge of diabetes while making new friends and creating experiences you’ll be telling other people about for years to come.
