Youth and Young Adults: Move Forward with Breakthrough T1D

This National Diabetes Awareness Month (NDAM), Breakthrough T1D is offering two opportunities for youth and young adults with type 1 diabetes (T1D) to have their voices heard.

Youth Ambassadors

Are you living with T1D and between the ages of 5 and 18?

Apply to be a 2024 Mountain West Youth Ambassador!

The Youth Ambassador Program was created to develop youth leaders within the T1D community.

As a Youth Ambassador, you’ll inspire others by sharing your T1D story; raising awareness for Breakthrough T1D; educating the broader community about T1D; and directly impacting Breakthrough T1D’s mission to create a world without T1D. You’ll also meet other peers with T1D; enhance your speaking and storytelling skills; volunteer at chapter and community events; and make new friends.

If you are interested in applying to become a Mountain West Youth Ambassador, you have until November 30, 2023 at 11:59pm MT to apply! Applicants must be between the ages of 5 and 18 (kindergarten through 12th grade), living with T1D and located in Mountain West’s territory (Colorado, Utah or Wyoming).

Use your voice to make active change in your community!

The application is available here.

Advocates in Action Council

Are you or do you love someone living with T1D and between the ages of 18 and 26?

Apply to be a member of Breakthrough T1D’s Advocates in Action Council!

The Advocates in Action Council (AAC) is a group of young adults who are young professionals and community leaders and are excited to actively support the advancement of Breakthrough T1D’s advocacy priority areas.

Breakthrough T1D Advocates have helped secure billions in federal funding for T1D research and influenced policy decisions to benefit those living with T1D. Through your involvement in the AAC, you can take an active leadership role in continuing this important work.

Some of your responsibilities will include participating in national Advocacy initiatives, amplifying Advocacy messaging on social media, mentoring local youths in Advocacy and completing community service projects in tandem with AAC members across the country.

If you are interested in applying for the AAC, you have until November 30, 2023 at 11:59pm PST to apply! Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 26, but need not have T1D to apply.

Play a leading role in moving the ball forward for every American living with T1D.
