Breakthrough T1D Walk Colorado, Presented by Wagner Equipment Co., is quickly approaching!

The Breakthrough T1D Walk Colorado, our largest fundraising event nationwide is coming up on October 13th! It’s a day to celebrate our type 1 diabetes (T1D) champions and bring us one step closer to cures. It’s a day of fun, inspiration, and impact!

Leading up to the big party on October 13th, you can register your team and set a fundraising goal with an impactful number for you. As you fundraise, you can earn prizes, while also knowing your hard work is bringing us closer to cures. There are so many ways to fundraise, from sharing your story on social media, writing a letter to friends and family, hosting a garage sale, partnering with a local restaurant for a give-back night, and more!

The first step in joining the Walk is creating your team, which is when you get to come up with your fun team name, personal goal, and more.

So what does the big day look like?

On Walk Day, there is a lot to do and take in. The site itself opens at 8am, an hour before we officially kick off the Walk. This allows plenty of time to arrive, find parking, get set up, and explore the Walk site. Be sure to stop by our T1D Support & Resources tent for your special T1D identifier!

At 9am, everyone will gather near the stage as we kick off Walk Day with exciting announcements and celebrations. At this time, we will all have our T1D champions begin gathering and lining up for the T1D parade. The T1D parade is our way to celebrate everyone living with T1D. When the music starts, our champions will parade to the stage, and we’ll see the mosaic of our community.

After we wrap up that impactful moment and champions have made their way back to their teams, we’ll cut the ribbon, and off we go!

How long is the route?

The route itself is 2.2 miles and it’s at your own pace. We also have a shortcut option that cuts it down to 1.4 miles. There will be aid stations along the route with water, low snacks, and our Mile of Hope.

Once you’re back at the Walk site, enjoy the event for as long as you’d like. We’ll have music, many activities, and it’s a great way to unwind and connect with other families and teams.
