Celebrating our Metro Roadsters

This weekend, we gathered our Breakthrough T1D Ride to Cure team, the Metro Roadsters, to celebrate their successful 2018 season.

Locally, 68 people joined the chapter team this year; 27 of them were first-year riders! Together, our team raised more than $300,000 for Breakthrough T1D’s mission to cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes (T1D).

Additionally, we were the No. 1 fundraising team at Saratoga Springs, raising more than any other chapter!

Bringing our Ride tribe together means plenty of laughs and smiles, especially during our Awards Ceremony. Check out the pictures from the event here.

Our Top Fundraiser award goes to Jerry Keselman, who raised $10,954!

Our Top Recruiter is Dan Planck, who rallied together a team of seven Novo Nordisk riders this year!

Jeff Krieztman receives the Promise Award, for his dedication and commitment to Breakthrough T1D Ride. For Jeff, who completed his 10th Ride this year, it’s not about the miles – it’s about the mission.

Jeanette Mackesy conquered the highs and lows of the Saratoga Springs Ride AND her blood sugar – no surprise she’s won the Crushed It! Award!

Jeff Goodnow’s light-up tiara at Ride made him the Best Dressed this year!

After riding 100 miles, Dominick Sr. crossed the finish line without a hair out of place, securing him the title of Best Helmet Hair!

Michael Franco joined us for his first Ride and fell in love with the Ride community (aka drank the Ride kool-aid); he definitely wins the Who Drank the Kool-Aid Award!

Marc registered to ride this year in honor of his brother. Well, when Len, Marc’s brother, found out he joined the team as well! The Teitelbaum brothers received the Riding in Tandem Award.

Dominick Jr. proved he had No Limits when he conquered 100 miles at Ride with a smile on his face – for the second year in a row!

With his passion and enthusiasm for our team and Ride to Cure, Stephen Moldt is definitely deserving of the Metro Roadster Award.

Thank you, Metro Roadsters! We had a wonderful 2018 season and can’t wait for this year’s rides! As a reminder, registration opens at ride.jdrf.org this Wednesday, January 16 at noon!
