Welcome Katie Budelmann, Community Engagement Manager
JDRF’s New Jersey Metro & Rockland County Chapter is thrilled to welcome Katie Budelmann to our team as Community Engagement Manager. Katie may be familiar to many of you, as she’s been involved as an Outreach Volunteer for the past three years, is an active participant in our OneWalk, and sits on the planning committee for TypeOneNation Summit.
Katie is mother to three boys, ages 15, 13, and 11. Her youngest son Alex (11) was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on June 11, 2016. As such, Katie brings first-hand experience of being a T1D mother to Breakthrough T1D which will enable her to establish rapport quickly with newly diagnosed families.
Katie graduated from Monmouth University with a Master’s in Social Work in 2005 and has many years of experience working with children, adolescents, families and the elderly population. She recently worked for Visiting Nurses Association as a Medical Social Worker. Previous to this position, she worked for Vital Decisions, an Advanced Care Planning Co. making calls to people to discuss their medical decisions as they struggle with a chronic or terminal illness.
In her personal time, Katie loves to spend time with her sons, her fiancé and her parents. She enjoys visiting Hilton Head, SC and will be getting married there in April 2022. She also loves to read, take woody walks and bake with her sons.
