Introducing Our 2022 One Walk Healthcare Ambassador

in ,

It is with great honor and pleasure that we introduce our 2022 One Walk Healthcare Ambassador: Alexandra Schmidt, MS, RD, CDCES, Diabetes Educator & Quality Coordinator at Hackensack Meridian Children’s Health/K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital.

The Healthcare Ambassador is an Everyday Hero who inspires those affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D) to be brave, be strong, and fight to turn Type One into Type None.

Her colleagues and patients alike agree that Alex is truly one-of-a-kind, with one colleague saying she is, “supportive and flexible, always trying to set realistic goals for our patients with T1D and supporting alternative ways to help them reach these goals.”

Alex is a member of the Breakthrough T1D New Jersey Metro & Rockland County Chapter’s Medical Advisory Committee, developed last year and composed of key leaders in the clinical community who are active in the education, treatment and research of type 1 diabetes. The Medical Advisory Committee provides professional advice and guidance to chapter board/staff leadership on outreach strategies, policies, emerging topics, and key needs that are important to the T1D patient population.

Alex earned her BS in Food Science and Human Nutrition from Clemson University and her MS in Clinical Nutrition from Rutgers University. Prior to joining Hackensack Meridian Health, Alex was a Senior Diabetes Clinical Manager.

Watch this moving tribute from several of Alex’s colleagues and patients, and you’ll see why Alex has earned the title of  the 2022 One Walk Healthcare Ambassador!

Congratulations Alex!
