Become a Youth Ambassador!
in General, Volunteers
Applications are now being accepted for the 2024 Youth Ambassador Program!
Serving as a Youth Ambassador is an incredible opportunity for those who want to use their voice to make a difference in the local communities.
Who can be a Youth Ambassador?
Applicants must:
- Live in the New Jersey Metro and Rockland County Chapter territory
- Be between 5-18 years of age (Kindergarten – 12th grade)
- Have been T1D for at least one year.
- Have a positive outlook on their live and diabetes.
- Receive parental permission to participate.
- Participate in the full calendar year (January 2024 – December 2024)
Share your T1D story.
Youth Ambassadors play a key role in providing awareness and understanding of T1D in the community. Training is provided on how to share your T1D story, but is important that YAs are comfortable sharing their story and talking about Breakthrough T1D (whether that be written or speaking opportunities).
Be present in the T1D community.
Youth Ambassadors must attend a minimum of four Breakthrough T1D engagements through the year. This will include one support group (for example, The Blue Crew or Meet-ups for Pre-Teens and Teens) and one fundraising event. There will be a number of opportunities for the Youth Ambassadors to engage throughout the year.
Serve within the local T1D community.
Youth Ambassadors must volunteer a minimum of five hours at Breakthrough T1D events, Outreach programs or in support of the Chapter.
Move the mission forward.
Youth Ambassadors lead their own fundraising efforts to help move Breakthrough T1D’s mission forward. It can be donating a Dream Basket to the One Dream Gala, organizing a One Walk team, running with Team Breakthrough T1D, biking with the New Jersey Metro Roadsters or organizing a Breakthrough T1D Your Way.
We look forward to receiving your application!
