Rufus, the Bear with Diabetes, and T1D Barbie are marching with Breakthrough T1D in the Parade of Champions in Santa Clara on Saturday, October 3! Our community is invited to come out, celebrate with us, and help raise awareness for type 1 diabetes (T1D).
It’s a great opportunity for the whole family to get involved, and we’d love a strong turnout representing our T1D community. We’re offering volunteer opportunities and ways to participate in the parade:
- March with us: Our group will carry the Breakthrough T1D banner and hand out bracelets featuring a QR code that connects people to our upcoming Silicon Valley Walk.
- Help with our table: We’ll have a Breakthrough T1D table set up with resources, and could use some extra hands there.
- Watch the parade: Family and friends are welcome to watch from the bleachers. There is a small fee, but the proceeds go back to the organization that puts on the parade and supports our veterans.

Our timeline may shift depending on turnout, but we’re planning on a 8 a.m. set-up, an 11 a.m. parade start, and a 1:30 p.m. tear-down.
