Santa Cruz-based Equity Marketing Solutions aims to help businesses and organizations “evolve, involve and advance.” That’s exactly what they have done for Breakthrough T1D Bay Area. They have helped us to evolve our website design and involve more people in our mission by expanding our social networking strategies. And, by giving us these invaluable services, they have helped Breakthrough T1D advance our way closer to a cure.

Andrew and Christine Arenson
Founded in 2002 by internet marketing professional Andrew Arenson, Equity Marketing Solutions has been helping us strengthen our online presence since 2009. For Andrew, it’s personal. His wife and business partner, Christine Arenson, has T1D. She was diagnosed at the age of seven and as an adult focuses on bringing families together who are living with this disease. Christine says, “I wish that my parents had had a better support community back then, I was the only kid in elementary school with diabetes. So, the idea of connecting with other parents was daunting because it seemed there were none in the area. Helping people to connect is my goal.”
Before starting Equity Marketing Solutions with her husband, Christine was the Office Manager and Camp Coordinator for the American Diabetes Association in Anchorage, Alaska. After moving to Los Angeles, Christine and Andrew were volunteers with a group called “Kids Rock the World,” a day camp to empower teens with T1D.
Now in Santa Cruz, the two are lending their marketing services to Breakthrough T1D and helping us to create an interactive web presence to get information out to those affected by T1D as well as connecting them to each other. Christine says, “What people need to know is that it takes a community to deal with T1D, just as it will take that same community to find a cure. We want people to be informed about advances in diabetes research. But what we say around the office is: Don’t just wait for a Cure, be a part of it.”
