Shingle Springs Subaru pledged $58,000 in support of the Breakthrough T1D mission to accelerate life-changing breakthroughs to cure prevent and treat type 1 diabetes (T1D) and its complications.
“The continued support of companies like Shingle Springs Subaru is essential to the progression of type 1 diabetes research,” said Dawn Angelo, Executive Director. “Donations like this allow Breakthrough T1D to continue to provide funding to scientists who work to unlock the science for a cure.”
A supporter of the Northern California Inland Chapter, Shingle Springs Subaru selected Breakthrough T1D as their Hometown Charity during the Subaru Share the Love Event. The gift was first announced as a challenge to over 300 attendees at the Breakthrough T1D One Party Gala held on Friday, May 11th and was matched dollar for dollar contributing to a record-breaking $350,000 raised at the event. A check presentation with Shingle Springs Subaru employees, Breakthrough T1D Board members and T1D families will take place at 4:00 PM Thursday, May 24th at the Shingle Springs dealership located at 4045 Wild Chaparral Drive in Shingle Springs.
For more than 45 years Breakthrough T1D has funded vital research, which has resulted in life-changing drugs, treatments and devices, many of which have moved into clinical trials and real-world testing.
“We support Breakthrough T1D’s ongoing efforts to find a cure for type 1 diabetes and to improve the lives of those who currently live with this disease,” said Bryant McCarver, Executive General Manager.
Affecting over 1.25 million Americans, T1D is an autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, a hormone that enables people to get energy from food. People with T1D must administer insulin multiple times every day to survive. Because there is no cure or existing methods of prevention for T1D, continued investments in promising research are needed to put an end to T1D and its devastating complications.
