We are thrilled to welcome Scott Harper from Abbott as our 2024 Breakthrough T1D Walk, NorCal, Silicon Valley Corporate Chair. In this leadership role, Scott will collaborate with Breakthrough T1D NorCal staff and volunteers to drive corporate and community support for the Walk. He will connect his business associates and employees with the Breakthrough T1D mission, fostering a shared purpose—to raise funds for type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. By rallying a team within his own workplace and leveraging his network, Scott is committed to helping recruit more participants and supporters for this year’s Walk.

Scott Harper, Divisional Vice President, Research and Development, Diabetes Care, Abbott

With nearly 25 years of experience in the diabetes technology space, Scott has dedicated his career to developing innovative products designed to improve the lives of people living with diabetes.  He joined the company in 2004 when Abbott acquired TheraSense, and he has since played a pivotal role as one of the technical leads of the FreeStyle Libre portfolio.

In his current role, Scott oversees strategic initiatives and the execution of several teams dedicated to advancing our sensor-based glucose monitoring products, as well as their associated applications and cloud software.

Scott earned his bachelor’s degree in bioengineering from the University of California, San Diego.

• Breakthrough T1D Walk, NorCal, San Francisco – October 23 @ Mission Rock/Oracle Park, San Francisco
• Breakthrough T1D Community Walk, Sacramento – November 3 @ North Natomas Park, Sacramento
