The University of Florida has several trials happening and they need your help. They are looking for children and adults, please read below for more information.
- Lactobacillus johnsonii N6.2 (probiotic) – For children: To determine if this probiotic has a positive impact on digestive health and wellness and preserve insulin production.
- Ages 8 to 17
- Diagnosed with T1D more than 3 months but less than 1 year
- Must be willing to take a probiotic or placebo for 24 weeks
- Meet other study eligibility criteria
- Lactobacillus johnsonii N6.2 (probiotic) – For adults: To determine if this probiotic has a positive impact on digestive health and wellness and preserve insulin production.
- Ages 18 to 45
- Diagnosed with T1D for 3 years or less
- Must be willing to take a probiotic or placebo for 24 weeks
- Meet other study eligibility criteria
- PROTECT: the study medication (teplizumab) has been developed to alter the body’s immune response in such a way that protects it from the damage caused by T1D
- Ages to 8 to 17
- Must be recently diagnosed with T1D (participants must be randomized by week 6 of diagnosis)
- Participants will be randomized to receive study medicine or placebo
- Meet other study eligibility criteria
- SUNRISE: the purpose is to evaluate the safety of the study medication (TOL-3021) and test whether it can stop the immune system from attacking beta cells and help the pancreas make insulin
- Ages 18 to 40
- Diagnosed with T1D within the last 5 years
- Participants will be randomized to study medication or placebo
- Meet other study eligibility criteria
