2025 Youth Ambassador Program – Northern Florida
in General, Life with T1D

2025 Youth Ambassador Program
The Breakthrough T1D Youth Ambassador program encourages children between the ages of 5 to 17* living with type one diabetes (T1D) to take an active role with Breakthrough T1D in achieving our organization’s mission of improving lives and curing type one diabetes. Youth Ambassadors learn to share their story of life with T1D, make stewardship visits to sponsors, speak to our corporate partners, and participate in our local and/or national fundraising programs such as the Breakthrough T1D Walk, Breakthrough T1D Ride, Breakthrough T1D Run, and Breakthrough T1D Gala. You can review all of the participation opportunities below!
The Breakthrough T1D Northern Florida Chapter covers Greater Tampa Bay, Greater Orlando, Greater Jacksonville, up through the Panhandle and all the communities in between. Youth Ambassadors can reside in all areas of our territory.
*If your T1D youth is going to turn 5 or 18 in 2025 they can still apply.
Youth Ambassador Participation Opportunities
Listed below are all of the opportunities for Breakthrough T1D Northern Florida Youth Ambassadors to participate in our mission. Youth Ambassadors will never be asked to step down from the program for not participating in all opportunities, but we certainly hope you can participate to the fullest!
- Breakthrough T1D Walk – Create a Walk Team for your local Walk event and encourage your friends, family, and community to join your team! We have Walk locations in Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa, and Sarasota each spring. We understand it is not feasible for those who live outside of these areas to make it to a Walk event. However, you can still create a team for any of these events and do your own thing on Walk Day! More Information
- Breakthrough T1D Gala – Help greet our Gala guests, deliver gifts to auction winners and Fund A Cure donors, and participate in the Dinner Program in other various ways. We have Gala events in Jacksonville, Orlando, and Tampa each fall. We understand it is not feasible for those who live outside of these areas to make it to a Gala.
- Breakthrough T1D Ride & Run – Breakthrough T1D hosts bike riding events and has charity entries to endurance running events across the country throughout the year. Both of these have Youth Rider and Youth Runner entries. If you’re into endurance, check out these options! More Information: Ride – Run
- Breakthrough T1D Play – Use your interest of video games to spread awareness, support each other, and fundraise through your favorite medium! More Information
- Breakthrough T1D Your Way – If you do not live close to a Walk event, are unable to participate in Walk/Ride/Run/Play, or maybe none of those are your thing – check out Breakthrough T1D Your Way! This is a platform where you can create, promote, and fundraise your own creative idea! More Information
- Breakthrough T1D Community Summit – Help greet guests and meet with families who are newly diagnosed to provide a T1D connection! Community Summits do not happen in all markets each year.
- Breakthrough T1D Advocacy – Participate in national advocacy efforts by sharing your T1D story with our elected officials as an Advocate or even at Children’s Congress! More Information
- Thank You Notes & Visits – We love having our Youth Ambassadors thank our donors and supporters of all kinds! You can decorate posters for our Riders & Runners, make visits to your local Wawa, Marshall’s, Floyd’s, and other corporations that partner with us!
