Picture1The Breakthrough T1D Kids Walk to Cure Diabetes is a great way to get kids and teachers excited about healthy living and helping others.  This school program gives teachers a flexible diabetes and health education curriculum while giving kids learning activities, an awareness and understanding of diabetes, and an opportunity to earn awards for their accomplishments. Participating schools will receive a 10% appreciation check from Breakthrough T1D!

The Breakthrough T1D Kids Walk Program slogan, “Kids Helping Kids”, was perfectly portrayed in April when the Prosper ISD community kicked off their campaign to raise awareness for Breakthrough T1D.  Kids Walks were held at Cockrell Elementary on April 18 and Folsom Elementary on April 19. With the slogan “In Friendship We Walk to Find a Cure,” many friends in the community came out to participate in the cause. Over 700 students walked at Cockrell Elementary, and over 450 walked at Folsom Elementary.  These two walks alone raised over $27,000 to support research!  Great job Cockrell and Folsom Elementary!!
