Team Spotlight: Team Big Red (currently raised over $3,000)

Michael Cummins is the Team Captain for Big Red.  Michael is 29 and was diagnosed three years ago with T1D.  He was originally misdiagnosed as type 2 and experienced serious complications.  His mom says, “Our family walks for Breakthrough T1D because we all believe in the artificial pancreas research project and hope for a cure in Michael’s lifetime, and the lifetime of so many others.”  Their team sends emails and utilizes Facebook to reach out to friends and family for donations.  They share Michael’s story, Breakthrough T1D information and also raise awareness that currently there is not a cure for T1D and that’s why they fundraise and walk.   They also remind their friends and family of how complicated and scary this disease can be to deal with, especially for children.  His mom says, “Our hope is with Breakthrough T1D.”  We congratulate Michael & his team on their success!
