Did you know your school can host a Kids Walk at any time during the school year?! 10% of the funds you raise is awarded back to your school and the rest comes back to Breakthrough T1D Tulsa! Educating kids on type 1 diabetes while fundraising for your school AND #T1D research? It’s a win-win!
Breakthrough T1D Kids Walk is an educational, in–school fundraising program with two goals: to educate students about type 1 and type 2 diabetes and the importance of a healthy lifestyle—and to raise money for life-changing T1D research. Wouldn’t it be great to foster an environment of character-building and community service at your school? Kids Walk can help you do just that! Students who take part learn how to be more empathetic and help raise awareness of T1D in their communities.
Your school can choose two dates, approximately two weeks apart, at any time during the school year to participate. On the first date—with the help of Breakthrough T1D’s video and tools—your school coordinator will lead students in an educational kick–off that teaches them about type 1 and type 2 diabetes, the importance of a healthy diet and exercise, and effective fundraising strategies. On the second date, students submit the funds they’ve raised at a celebratory Walk held on your school’s campus.
