Arohanui Bender

Gala Chair

Arohanui has been involved with Breakthrough T1D since 2007, the year after her son, Matthew, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) as a teenager. That year, along with her late husband, Mike, she participated in her first Breakthrough T1D bike ride in Death Valley, California. Arohanui has continued to be actively involved in the ride program and has completed over 25 rides, where she has recruited new riders and served as a ride coach. In the past, she has also been a member of the local chapter board and chaired the 2013 Cincinnatian of the Year Gala. While Arohanui has always engaged in community volunteer work, she now focuses her time on volunteering with Breakthrough T1D and serves as a volunteer leader with Cincinnati Pig Works and the Flying Pig Marathon, especially as retirement, travel, and family commitments have taken up more of her time.

Bob Herzog

Gala Emcee

Bob Herzog joined the Local 12 team at the end of 2005. He anchors Good Morning Cincinnati with Sheila Gray.

Bob is a Cincinnati guy. More specifically, he’s a proud West Side guy. As a hometown boy, he takes special pride in getting involved in community events. Bob is always inspired to see neighbors helping neighbors and friends helping friends.

He graduated from Oak Hills High School and Xavier University. Bob also obtained a law degree from Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University.

Bob loves all kinds of music and movies and has a passion for basketball, but his number one hobby is spending time with his wife and four children.
