We’re less than three months away from our Los Angeles Gala One Night Under the Stars on October 25th – a celebration of the resiliency of the LA and T1D communities.

Taking place at the beautiful Ahmanson Ballroom at the Skirball Cultural Center, we’re excited to have the mind-blowing magic of Justin Willman, creator and star of the Netflix series Magic for Humans, The Magic Prank Show and his newest special, Magic Lover.

KTLA Morning News Anchor and proud T1D dad, Frank Buckley will also be back this year to lend his talents as our Emcee.

The Breakthrough T1D Walk brings together thousands to support a brighter future for those with type 1 diabetes (T1D). It’s a chance for individuals, families, businesses, and communities to make a real impact. Join us at one of our Southern California Walks—choose your location and register today!

Announcing registration and sponsorship opportunities are now open for our inaugural San Diego Golf Tournament! The event will take place on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Lomas Santa Fe Country Club in Solana Beach.

We’ve partnered with one of San Diego’s premier private courses to create an unforgettable day of golf. The event will culminate in a cocktail reception with delicious food, networking opportunities, and a chance to connect with the community. By participating, you will be directly supporting life-changing research for Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). Your involvement—whether as a sponsor, donor, or participant—will help drive critical progress toward finding cures for T1D, all while enjoying a top-tier charity golf experience.

The Breakthrough T1D Ride is a premier cycling event that brings together riders of all skill levels to fund groundbreaking research for type 1 diabetes. With multiple destination rides across the country, participants pedal for a cure while experiencing scenic routes, expert coaching, and an incredible sense of community.

The confirmed locations and dates are:

  • La Cross, WI—August 7-8
  • Santa Fe, NM—August 21-24
  • Cape Cod, MA—September 11-14
  • Coeur d’Alene, ID—September 25-28
  • Santa Barbara, CA—October 18
    • This is a My Ride option with riders from the Southern California Ride Team
  • Amelia Island, FL—December 4-7

The Breakthrough T1D Community Summit is an educational and networking opportunity for all those impacted by type 1 diabetes (T1D). It will bring our community together to learn from T1D experts, hear about the latest breakthroughs in T1D research, meet vendor exhibitors, connect with others impacted by T1D, and more.   • Back to School Ice Cream Fundraiser – Tuesday, August 12, 3 p.m. at Jeni’s Ice Creams at 7740 El Camino Real, Carlsbad. 25% of all sales will be donated back to Breakthrough T1D!
  • Park Meet Up, Los Angeles – Saturday, August 23, 10 a.m. at Alameda Park. This free event is a great opportunity for individuals and families living with type 1 diabetes (T1D), including adults, teens, and children, to connect, share experiences, and build lasting friendships. Whether you’re newly diagnosed or have been living with T1D for years, we’d love for you to join us. RSVP here.
  • T1D Hype Party, San Diego –RSVP Here for a FUN afternoon of connecting with other T1D families for Breakthrough T1D Walk HYPE Party at Dave & Buster’s in Mission Valley on Sunday, September 7th, 1:00pm- 3:00pm! Please RSVP by Monday, September 1st! Learn from and connect with guest speakers, Breakthrough T1D and the T1D community. Light food will be provided. At the conclusion of the event, each registered team captain in attendance*, will receive one $20 Dave & Buster’s Power card while supplies last.   • T1D Hype Party, Orange County – Sunday, September 14, 10 a.m. at Fountain Valley Skating Center. RSVP here.
  • Breakfast with Rufus, Orange County – Saturday, September 20, 10 a.m. at Mary & Dick Allen Diabetes Center at 520 Superior Ave, Suite 150, Newport Beach, CA 92663. Continental breakfast/snacks will be provided.  Don’t forget to bring your Rufus! RSVP here.
  • Fall Fun with Rufus – Join us for Fall Fun with Rufus on Saturday, October 4th, 2025, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. at the Rady Children’s Hospital Education Building located at 7960 Birmingham Drive. San Diego, CA 92123.  This is a family friendly event. There will be fall themed crafts and activities, t-shirt decorating for Rufus, along with T1D resources and information! Bring your Rufus, or other medium sized stuffed bear, and join us to meet your Breakthrough T1D Community at Rady Children’s Hospital Education Building!
