Forbes magazine has released its annual rank list of 100 charities and non-profits. The magazine has highlighted five all-star organizations based on efficiency. Breakthrough T1D is excited to have been selected as one of those five.

In the article, “Forbes Picks 5 All-Star Charities: Top Rankings For Efficient Groups”,  writer Abram Brown emphasizes the dedication of Breakthrough T1D’s network of volunteers – including International Chairman Mary Tyler Moore – and advocates as part of the reason for Breakthrough T1D’s success. Most importantly, the article points out that most of the money raised with the help of these loyal volunteers goes directly to funding research.

The other organizations included as all-stars are: Brother’s Brother Foundation, United Way, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, and International Rescue Committee. Breakthrough T1D was the only disease-focused organization included among these outstanding selections.

Thank you to Forbes for recognizing our efforts to be good stewards for our donors. And, a special thank you to our volunteers and advocates for helping to make Breakthrough T1D one of the top non-profits in the United States.

About Breakthrough T1D

Breakthrough T1D is the leading global organization focused on type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Driven by passionate, grassroots volunteers connected to children, adolescents, and adults with this disease, Breakthrough T1D is now the largest charitable supporter of T1D research. The goal of Breakthrough T1D research is to improve the lives of all people affected by T1D by accelerating progress on the most promising opportunities for curing, better treating, and preventing T1D. Breakthrough T1D collaborates with a wide spectrum of partners who share this goal.

Since its founding in 1970, Breakthrough T1D has awarded more than $1.6 billion to diabetes research. Past Breakthrough T1D efforts have helped to significantly advance the care of people with this disease, and have expanded the critical scientific understanding of T1D. Breakthrough T1D will not rest until T1D is fully conquered. More than 80 percent of Breakthrough T1D’s expenditures directly support research and research-related education.
