April News from the Arkansas Chapter
The Arkansas Chapter hopes that you are all well and staying safe. Please reach out to us if you have any questions or would like to connect with another family in your area.
A bit of good news, Congress has extended funding for the Special Diabetes Program (SDP) through November 30! The SDP is a critical program that provides $150 million annually for type 1 diabetes (T1D) research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the country’s premier medical research agency. In addition, the Congressional relief package includes provisions that have near-term impact for people with T1D, including renewed funding for community health centers and requirements that Medicare Part D plans provide up to a 90-day supply of prescription medications, including insulin, if requested by a beneficiary during the COVID-19 emergency period.
Social distancing has affected many events, including the Arkansas Chapter’s two galas. We have re-imagined both into virtual auction events in which we would love for you to participate! We will open the auction on May 2 (the original date of the Northwest Arkansas Run for the Roses Hope Gala) with a program on Zoom and Facebook Live. The auction will continue through May 9 (the original date of the Central Arkansas Imagine Gala) with a closing program also on Zoom and Facebook Live. Links to register for the auction are below (all auction items are in both events; therefore, you only need to register for one). We hope to “see” you there!
