Volunteer Spotlight: Chris Schembri

2014 Outreach Champion
Chris Schembri
Chris Schembri sought out volunteer opportunities with the Breakthrough T1D Georgia Chapter immediately after moving to Atlanta in 2007. Soon, he was a Young Leadership Committee member, phone mentor, hospital volunteer and Walk to Cure Diabetes participant. After serving for several years on the Young Leadership Committee and helping to organize numerous events and fundraisers like Rock the Cure, Chris now devotes his volunteer time primarily to hospital visits.
Chris’ T1D diagnosis at age 17 served as a career impetus for the college-bound high school senior. He chose to study health sciences in college before going on to earn a master’s degree in public health. Today, Chris works as a Public Health Analyst for the CDC’s Immunization Safety Office. He lives in Decatur with his wife, Brooke, and their two children, Greta and Walter.
Thank you Chris for all your hard work and dedication to the Breakthrough T1D Georgia Chapter.
