Record-Breaking 20th Anniversary Hope for a Cure Gala Raises $2 Million
in General

On Saturday, May 9, 2015 the Breakthrough T1D Georgia Chapter raised a record-breaking $2 million at its 20th Anniversary Hope for a Cure Gala! This fundraising effort, led by Gala Chairs, Jill and John Kampfe, exceeded our $1.7 million budget making the Georgia Chapter’s event one of the top 5 Breakthrough T1D galas in the country this year. The generosity of the Kampfes, whose daughter Anna was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 9, along with our sponsors and donors will enable us to continue funding incredible diabetes research.
During this year’s Gala program, we celebrated the legacy of long-time supporters, Barbara and Duke Roos. In recognition of their commitment to Breakthrough T1D, the Living and Giving Award was renamed the “Barbara and Duke Roos Living and Giving Award.” This newly-minted award was presented to Laura and Rutherford Seydel for their dedication to the Georgia Chapter and Breakthrough T1D’s mission.
In addition to awards presentations, Robin Meade, HLN Anchor, served as our guest host. Guests also enjoyed an after-party with a performance by Atlanta’s own Yacht Rock Review.
The Breakthrough T1D Georgia Chapter thanks everyone who made this spectacular evening possible!
