35 Faces of the Breakthrough T1D One Walk: Meet Olivia

35 Faces, 35 years of Walking, 35 Reasons to Give

My Breakthrough T1D One Walk team, Livi’s Lollipops, is the sweetest team there is! This year will be our 3rd walk since I was diagnosed in August 2014. My favorite memory from the walk was last year when Oldcastle, a Breakthrough T1D One Walk Sponsor, showed a video of me interviewing about T1D and dancing! Dance is a huge part of my life. Being able to control my blood sugar has gotten easier at dance due to my continuous glucose monitor (CGM). I wear my CGM on my stomach, and it shows what my blood sugar levels are every 5 minutes. It reduces my daily finger pricks and helps my parents sleep at night! I like to post on Facebook and on my Instagram account about the walk and ask for donations and support. I even recruit walkers for my team on social media! We have a huge group of family and friends that walk with us every year. Before the walk, my Mom helps out on the Family Teams Committee! She helps newly diagnosed families with their fundraising and answers any questions they have about T1D. Come join me and the sweetest team there is at this year’s walk on October 15th!
