Two Breakthrough T1D Junior Ambassadors Featured as Champions of WSB’s People2People
in Advocacy
Amanda and Malakai, two of our Breakthrough T1D Georgia Junior Ambassadors, were selected by WSB-TV to be featured as T1D Champions to celebrate National Diabetes Awareness Month. Every year, on Amanda’s diaversary, she visits Children’s Hospital of Atlanta (CHOA) and brings notes to kids who share her same anniversary. Malakai, diagnosed just a year and a half ago, traveled to Washington D.C. this past summer as a Georgia Delegate for the Breakthrough T1D Children’s Congress. While there, Malakai advocated for funding of the Special Diabetes program and affordable access to insulin, talked about life with T1D, and how difficult it can be to manage a 24-7 disease, especially as an active kid.
We are so proud of our T1D Champions! Check out WSB-TV’s remarkable story about Amanda and Malakai by clicking here.
