Students, faculty, and staff at St. Louis College of Pharmacy have a long history of participating in the Walk to Cure Diabetes. Members of the college have taken part in student organization teams or personal teams for many years. We are very excited that 2012 will be the first year the College has a campus-wide Walk team.

President John A. Pieper, Honorary Chair of the 2012 Walk to Cure Diabetes, will be sending a personal message to all members of the College community asking them to participate in this year’s Breakthrough T1D Walk. We’ll have paper sneaker sales on campus. And we’re planning an impressive display of all the sneakers sold in the weeks leading up to the Walk.

We are also profiling three of our captains on Facebook this year. They’ll be sharing their story of living with T1D and how the disease does not define them.

We’ll design a special St. Louis College of Pharmacy t-shirt for all our walkers to wear in Forest Park on Sunday, October 7th.

St. Louis College of Pharmacy has enjoyed a great relationship with Breakthrough T1D for a number of years. Student volunteers hold numerous T1D screenings every year at pharmacies and other venues across St. Louis. We invite children with T1D and their families to Boo Fest on the campus every October. Children come in costumes, participate in games and trick-or-treat in a safe and friendly environment. St. Louis College of Pharmacy students say year after year this is the highlight of the fall semester.
