Community Speakers Series: Ginger Vieira & Mike Lawson

For kids, explaining what “low blood sugar” means can be difficult. Ginger Vieira and Mike Lawson created “When I Go Low” to help explain what happens with low blood sugar.
“When I Go Low” tells the story of Jax the cat who likes to play soccer, eat sandwiches, and ride his bike with his friends — oh, and he also has type 1 diabetes! For Jax, one of the hardest parts of living with type 1 diabetes is noticing how he feels when his blood sugar is low. One day, he goes on a walk to find other kids with type 1 and learns a few new things about low blood sugars along the way!
Both Ginger and Mike live with type 1 diabetes and strive to share their stories in their work. You can join this amazing duo on Tuesday, June 15th at 7:00 PM as they read their story aloud and share their personal experiences with type 1 diabetes, including Ginger’s recent journey with T1Detect.
This free, virtual event is a perfect way for families to spend an evening together for a read aloud adventure, and also build a community with other families living with T1D.
