National Diabetes Awareness Month – Ways to Advocate

in , ,

November is National Diabetes Awareness Month (NDAM)! Every year during the month of November, people from all over the country team up to spread awareness about diabetes and highlight the urgent need to accelerate life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat type 1 diabetes (T1D) and its complications. The need for awareness and education on T1D is more important than ever and this NDAM, we’re asking you to join us!

This year, we’re showing the world how we’re moving Forward together. We’re celebrating the progress we’ve made, the progress to come, and the community that helps us all move #ForwardAs1. Forward reminds us to think about WHAT and WHO this progress is for. For our loved ones, for access and choice, for treatments and cures, and so much more.

You can make a huge impact! Below are three of many ways you can use your voice during National Diabetes Awareness Month:

  • Register to be an advocate! Breakthrough T1D Advocates help build and sustain critical support for type 1 diabetes (T1D) research funded by the Federal Government by raising awareness among Members of Congress of the financial, medical and emotional costs of the disease.
  • Apply to the Advocates in Action Council! The AAC is for those ages 18-26 who are looking for additional opportunities to engage in our important advocacy work, like continued research funding and affordable insulin. Need not have T1D to apply.
  • Apply for Breakthrough T1D 2023 Children’s Congress! Children’s Congress is an empowering, inspiring event that provides 160 youth with the chance to share their personal #T1D stories on Capitol Hill and to highlight the importance of Federal T1D research funding. Know someone between ages 4 – 17 who is actively engaged in Breakthrough T1D’s mission? Encourage them to apply today for this once-in-a-lifetime experience!  #JDRFCC23

Every day, the Breakthrough T1D community is moving #ForwardAs1 to improve the lives of people living with T1D. Forward is what fuels our vision and mission to create a world without T1D, and we can’t do what we do without you!
